Why your gifts matter?
We are very excited about the establishment of Morning Breeze Endowment Fund through The Winnipeg Foundation based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
``My story is nothing more of resilience, perseverance and triumph as a person of colour. And belonging to the minority and making it and finding my place under the sun. ``
The Winnipeg Foundation is one of the oldest charitable organizations in Canada, founded in 1921 by William Forbes Alloway, a prominent banker with his gift of $100,000. His intention and vision was building a community, built by everyday Winnipeggers, that will support the community, forever! And as they say, for over a century, the rest is history.
My story is nothing more of resilience, perseverance and triump as a person of color and belonging to the minority and making it and finding my place under the sun.
As I call Canada my second home, I can not imagine of not giving back to my community who had blessed me with so much opportunities that brought me to where I am now.
My journey begins almost twenty four years ago. I started my journey in the Philippines with L’Ache Punla in 1996. This organization is an international federation that provides homes in a family-like atmosphere for people with intellectual disabilities and are profoundly handicapped. With my L’Arche experience in the Philippines, it opened up the door for me to work for L’Arche Winnipeg in 1998.
And as they say, the rest is history. However, during my stint with L’Arche Winnipeg, from immersing myself to the core values of L’Arche and developing and maintaining authentic relationship and friendship with the members, I was able to run successful programs, notably the Healthy Aging Initiative and the Emergency Preparedness Plan.
